Last night marked the second annual Yanksgiving (clever hey? I thought of it myself).
It started last year because Ryan and I love thanksgiving. We love food and love getting together with our friends, and we’ll use any excuse to put all those together, even if it’s celebrating someone elses holiday.
And just like last year, last night’s yanksgiving was filled with the same good old fashioned cramped around the table stuff your face until you’re gonna burst kinda fun.
I get a lot of comments on my deer antler (because it’s so gorgeous). It wasn’t obtained by hunting. Rather, my parents have a large yard where deer constantly frequent and from time to time they shed their antlers in the yard, and this is one of them. Thank you deer!
I had great fun taking a roll of kraft paper, cutting it in half and using it as table runners on each edge of the table. I then placed the dishes and wrote the persons name above their plate as an easy yet beautiful place card.
Non Americans, if you love thanksgiving, why don’t you join us next year and celebrate Yanksgiving? I’ll even let you use the name.
And non Canadians, go ahead and celebrate our thanksgiving in October, and you can call it Canucksgiving.
We turned our chalkboard into a thankful wall. Some of the things written on it are “Food”, “Hard Hugs” and “Being Married”.
