I remember SO fondly making mailboxes or envelopes at school for Valentine’s day. The thrill of popping around to each of your classmates desks to give your cards, and then emptying your box to check out all the goodies rivals that of the easter bunny! Whether you want to bring it back with your gals or want to make a mailbox and valentines with your kids, this DIY Valentine’s Day Mailbox and Origami Heart Valentine is a fun way to personalize this age old tradition.
The mailbox can be super personalized, so do whatever you want with it! And those origami heart invites are incredibly easy and actually kind of addicting to make. There’s a fun video to show you how!
Let’s get making. (affiliates links used)

- So I went and bought a white, pre cut box at Michael’s (cause I’m lazy like that), but you can easily do this with a shoe box. Simply use an exacto knife to cut out a slit in the top and presto!
- If you got the premade white one, go ahead and start painting, otherwise you’ll have to prime your shoebox with thick white paint. I measured the box into three equal sections and used skinny washi tape to get those white lines. But really you can decorate your box however you like!
- If you’re so inclined, throw on a bunch of conversation heart stickers!
- Now to make your origami heart valentine, go ahead and watch the video below. Guys, it’s crazy easy.
I mean seriously, isn’t that the easiest origami ever?
Happy Valentine’s Day!
