Oh my gosh it feels good to be back! I took a longer break between posts than I originally intended. I mean, wasn’t it just Valentine’s Day on the blog? Well yes, so today’s post kinda bridges Valentine’s Day with the next holiday coming up in a couple weeks – St Patrick’s Day.
How does a day celebrating love share any commonalities with one devoted to wearing green, obsessing over imaginary little men and (for many) getting rip roaring drunk? Typically it doesn’t, but I wasn’t ready for Valentine’s Day to end, so I decided to create a twist on the old classic conversation hearts with what? Conversation shamrocks!
Oh yes, there’s plenty that can be ‘conversed’ on St Patrick’s Day as people run about pinching each other and shouting “kiss me I’m Irish!”
Hmmm pinching…kissing…maybe there are more similarities between Valentine’s Day and St Patrick’s Day than I thought.
So whip up a batch of these cuties to stick onto your fridge or hey, instead of a magnet attach a pin backing and wear it around proudly on the 17th! Then no one can pinch you for not wearing green.
Materials
- Air dry clay
- Shamrock cookie cutter
- Alphabet stamps
- Green and gold paint (acrylic is best…and not what I used so ignore that picture)
- Small paint brushes
- Self adhesive magnet
Steps
1 Roll out the air dry clay to approximately 1/4 inch thick (or thicker if you’re okay to let it dry longer). Use a shamrock cookie cutter to cut out your shapes.
2 Use alphabet stamps to imprint your message. Ideas are: Pinch Me, Kiss Me, I’m Irish, Golden, U R My Treasure, Pot o Gold, Lucky. Set aside to dry for 24 hours.
3 Paint the shamrock green. Try your best to get everything painted green except the letters.
4 Once the green paint has dried, use an itsy bitsy paint brush to paint the letters in gold. Allow to dry completely.
5 Once dry, stick a self adhesive magnet on the back and place on your fridge!
Happy St Patrick’s Day! Well in two weeks. Don’t worry, I do plan to be back here before then 😉
