Indoor plants terrified me. Correction – terrify. I joked for years that I had a black thumb because everything I grew died. I still have terrible luck, but as I kill I learn, and I’m becoming more in tune to a plants needs. I’m now getting pretty good at keeping indoor plants and want to fill the entire house with them.
So far there’s the orchid in the kitchen, Jorge the avocado plant in the dining room, our aloe, 2 other succulents, lipstick, and kalanchoe’s alongside Tilly the tillandsia in the living room, my 11+ year old bamboo in the bathroom (I kept something alive!), and Lucky the oxalis in my studio.
I want more.
And yes, we name many of our plants.
Next I want a fiddle leaf fig and I shall call him Tevye.
We name ours too!! Stanley has been with us for some time now – growing widely as ever! 🙂 We added a few more to the group this weekend – spring is here and I’m itching to take care of more greenery around the house!
Stanley’s a fab name for a plant!
Orchids are hard to keep alive. Good job! I’d try something like a vine, very easy to grow. I have lots of plants and I’ve also killed lots in the process of learning… Lol. But I’m getting pretty good at keeping them alive now. I just need to find better ways of displaying them…
Well I’ve killed several. This guy has been with us for 2 months and is still thriving – fingers crossed he sticks around!
I’ve been collecting plants for my bedroom! I now have five succulents, a zz plant and an asparagus fern… and I still want more! It is just so refreshing to have little groups of green in your room!
It makes it so lively right?
I have a black thumb, so my husband takes care of our indoor plants and garden. 😀 We have a bamboo plant that has lasted for years… they are definitely hearty! Congrats on your success with the orchids!
Bamboo is amazing! Mine has nearly died a few times to be honest but has always bounced back and is better than ever! We keep him in the bathroom – I think it really likes the humidity from showers
