Confession – I’m a gift supplies hoarder. Yes, I’m one of those people who saves gift bags and boxes so I can turn around and use them for my own gifts. Hey man, in my defence I’m totally doing my part to save the planet. 9/10 they’re in perfect condition, who’d want to throw that away!? I do sometimes want to add a bit of my own flair though, and that’s how I came up with these DIY Marbled Gift Boxes.
Okay so shaving cream marbling is nothing new, but man do I ever love the look of black, white, and gold marble together. The great thing about this quick gift box makeover is that it can be done with items around the house. I used calligraphy ink, but you could use paint (watered down to an inky consistency), nail polish, food dye – basically any watery colourful substance.

- Coloured Inks or Paint– I used calligraphy ink.
- Plain white matte gift boxes
- Bamboo Skewer
- Tray
S T E P S
- Spread a generous and evenly layered amount of shaving cream on your tray. Scatter drops of ink all around.
- Use a bamboo skewer (or somethign similar) to mix the ink, Have fun creating marble like swirls and patterns!
- Press your gift box onto the shaving cream. Remember the boxes need to be a matte finish. The shaving cream will not adhere to glossy cardboard like those standard white jewelry boxes (trust me I tried).
- Use the bamboo skewer or a flat edged surface like a credit card to scrape off the excess shaving cream. Repeat for all sides and let it dry for at least 30 minutes.

Tan these are the cutest!!!! I have to admit something really crazy for a crafter: I’ve never marbled a single thing. You make it look so easy!
