Halloween is creeping up on us. Have you got your ghouls and bats ready?
With a few simple materials and steps, these little bats are ready to party with some cupcakes at your upcoming halloween party.
Materials
- 1″ diameter styrofoam balls
- Lollipop sticks
- Black acrylic paint
- Paint brush
- Black cardstock
- Exacto Knife
- Pencil
- Scissors
Steps
1 Paint your styrofoam balls and your lollipop sticks. Leave about an inch on the bottom of the stick unpainted as you don’t want flaked off paint in your cupcake. Allow to dry.
2 Use a pencil to draw bat wings on your black cardstock, leaving a tab for inserting into the styrofoam ball. I used this image as a reference. To ensure they’re the same, draw one wing, fold the paper over then cut to get two identical wings.
3 When dry, use your exacto knife to cut two slits on either side of the ball, ensuring they are as long as the tabs on your wings, and at equal height from each other.
4 Push the lollipop stick through the bottom of the styrofoam ball and insert a wing into each slit.
5 Place into your cupcakes and have a spooktacular time!
Minus the paint drying time, one of these guys takes 2 minutes to make. Making a whole bunch to really make a statement would be a cinch!
And in case you’re wondering/drooling, those lovely bats are sitting atop my delicious butternut squash cupcake. Oh yes. Recipe to come.
