It’s hard to believe another year as gone by isn’t it?
I feel so thankful for the year 2012. I got married to my love, travelled to an incredible country, taught full time and filled my life with love and laughter. To top it all off, I have had incredible experiences and connected with amazing people via my home here, Squirrelly Minds.
Thank you all so much for your support. Your kind words and cheeriness truly mean so much to me every day. You all make me want to improve myself and Squirrelly Minds. And here are some ways I plan to do just that:
2013 New Years Resolutions
I make time to dance because I need to in order to expel energy, creativity and to fulfill my love for it. I sing constantly, whether it’s along to some Austra or solo with my guitar. But I’m not making enough time to illustrate, despite feeling incredible happiness when I do. And so I plan to make time to illustrate, draw, paint, etc, whether it’s just a quick doodle in my sketch book or a poster like above (keep reading for the download).
Not everything has to be done now
I am a horrid type a while Ryan is your classic type b. While I don’t want to slacken to a laissez faire outlook on life, I do need to r-e-l-a-x. I’m starting to remind myself that no, the dishes do not have to be done tonight and yes, I can ignore that pile of mess in that corner a little longer. It hasn’t been easy, but I realized it had to stop when I noticed how mess and imperfection gives me physical anxiety symptoms. There’s not point in stressing over the small things, so gradually I plan to teach myself just that. Plus, my husband is grateful for this gradual transformation and if it’s making a difference in how he and I both feel at the end of the day, I’m doing it for the right reason.
Turn aspirations into reality
I’ve had so many aspirations with Squirrelly Minds and beyond that I’ve wanted to tackle for a year now, but due to the wedding and full time teaching I ended up constantly putting it off. I refuse to put it off any longer. May 2013 be the year of doing, the year of experimenting, and the year of fulfilling long awaited goals.
Take time away
It’s so easy, especially being a blogger and working full time, to spend your extra minutes perusing twitter or reading other blogs. I realized recently that I haven’t read a novel for me (not including reading to my students) since last Christmas. It’s so important to do things for you that exist for no other reason other than to relax and make you happy. And that’s just what I intend to do more of.
There, now that it’s posted here I have to do my best to fulfill these resolutions don’t I?
I’ve already made a good start with number one at least with the above “Happy New Year Poster”, and I created a printable version for you to download and print.
Sized for an 8×10 frame. Print onto 8.5×11 white cardstock, trim, frame and hang up for the first days of the new year! If you wanna get real fancy, put glue over the polka dots and sprinkle with real glitter 😉
If not how come? If yes, what’s one of yours this year?
