Entrances are a visitors’ first impression and should reflect the look and feel of your entire home. Pretty ways to store your coats and shoes are a must.
It doesn’t matter if they’re all Jimmy Choo’s and Kate Spade’s, an entrance way should not have shoes splayed all across the floor. I know it can be hard, especially when living in a small space like I do. When our shoe rack was overflowing we used a basket (like the IKEA Knipsa Basket) to contain all the extras. It was easy to take our shoes out when we needed them, but when we were home they were neatly tucked out of view.
We’ve since done a massive purge and got rid of a bunch of shoes. That’s always another option.
A mirror in the entrance is of course essential. You gotta have a quick look at yourself before you nip out the door! Our mirror was our first purchase in Morocco. I love looking at it every day and being reminded of our lovely honeymoon.
What is one item you think every entrance should have?

I have to take your advice on organizing shoes at the front door. I try to keep mine neat, but my husband scatters them all over the floor! I need to find a really chic looking box/basket to stick under our entry table.
