The mister is a cocktail shaker master. One of his favourite things about hosting a party is creating a signature cocktail. This mandarin orange cocktail is what he served at our holiday get together over the weekend. And guys, it’s good.
Mandarin Orange Simple Syrup and Cocktail

Ingredients
Simple Syrup
- 6-8 Mandarin Oranges
- Sugar
- Water
- Ground Cinnamon
- Ground Ginger
- Ground Nutmeg
Cocktail
- Dark Rum
- Angostura Bitters
- Lime
- Soda or Gingerale
- Rosemary, Thyme, or orange slice to garnish
- Mandarin Orange Simple Syrup
Instructions
Simple Syrup
- Use a reamer or squeeze to make 1 cup fresh mandarin orange juice
- In a pot, add the juice, ¾ cup sugar, ¾ cup water, and cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger to taste
- Boil until the liquid reduces to half its volume, or until desired thickness. Allow to fully cool
Cocktail
- parts rum, 1 part syrup, dash of butters, squeeze of lime. Shake all ingredients and pour into a glass. Top with your choice of club soda or gingerale to taste. Garnish with a sprig of rosemary, thyme, or a slice of mandarin orange.
