I almost didn’t post today but the mister encouraged me to. Why did I need the encouragement? Because I’m busy, motivated, and excited about turning the about 12 watercolour paintings – a birthstone for each month – into cards and prints.
Things are happening guys. If you don’t see me around here as much as usual, I’m busy prepping to bring you the shop.
I can’t wait!
Question:
I was originally planning to open up shop on Etsy, but am disappointed with their decision last year (that I just became aware of) to allow mass manufactured products from China on their site. I no longer feel like Etsy is what it started out as – a community for makers, making products with their own hands.
Who knows, it may still be the best fit for the Squirrelly Minds Print Shop, but are there any other online shop sites you would recommend?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

The only other one I’m familiar is Big Cartel. I agree with you on being disappointed with Etsy’s decision and while I still do purchase very specific things off it – I’m not using it for my shop either. While it’s more work in terms of upkeep – I’m planning on building my own shop with SquareSpace’s platform.
Did you decide on a printer yet?

I was looking into big cartel as well and might go with them, but I prefer Etsy’s search feature. Hrmm. Oh that’s nice Squarespace has that option! MIght be more work but it’s more customizable which is great!
Just finalizing proofs with a couple local printers before I decide on one!

I’ll take one of each, please. Seriously, these are so gorgeous, and I’m really excited for you to start selling them!!
I agree on the Etsy frustration. I’ve passed on a lot of purchases seeing that they were sources from overseas… my problem also being that I don’t want to wait that long for shipping haha.

It just doesn’t feel the same right? And yes! Longer shipping is a factor

These are gorgeous!
Perhaps try Shopify – it’s a great platform though it is a standalone store. Plus you can have a Facebook store by Shopify.

Thank you so much Katie!
Ohh yes I’ve heard of Shopify. I’ll certainly check it out. And I’ve never heard of a facebook store! Woah…
