I don’t know what is happening to April but it is flying by too quickly! And do you know what comes right after the end of May? Cinco de Mayo! So if you’re planning a fiesta, it’s time to get out those invitations. Why not make them super festive with some pinata fringe!
These invitations are super simple, colourful, and cute. Using regular card stock, just write (or print) the details on one side and cover the other in fringe. Wham! You have yourself a Cinco de Mayo invitation. And you only need 5 items.
Materials
- Card stock
- Tissue paper – various colours
- Double sided tape
- Scissors
- Pen
Steps
1 Cut tissue paper into 10cm x 8cm squares. Fold in half and cut fringe leaving a 2cm gap at the top.
2 Cut card stock into 14cm x 10cm rectangles. Place a piece of double sided tape one inch above the bottom.
3 Place one of your fringe pieces along the double sided tape. Place another piece of double sided tape a 1/4 inch above the already placed fringe.
4 Place another piece of fringe on the double sided tape. Repeat until you reach the top. Make sure your last piece of double sided tape is on the very top edge of the card stock.
5 Trim the edges and write your invitation message on the back (you can also do this before attaching fringe).
Psssst. If you’re throwing a Cinco de Mayo party and using these pinata fringe invitations, I think it only appropriate to have a pinata at your party.
We’re not having a cinco de mayo party, but it seems like something we should celebrate considering my husband is Mexican. Lol. These invitations are definitely fun. 🙂
Oh you definitely should and celebrate it real Mexican style!
Tan, these are adorable! I love fringe in any form but never thought to use it to jazz up invites. In love!
Thanks Amy! I kind of have a tendency to put fringe on everything. When it doubt, fringe it up!
