I wouldn’t say I woke up nervous by any means. In fact there’s video footage of me saying “I’m not nervous at all, just excited”.
However, my stomach would have told you otherwise.
A heads up, do not plan to eat a big meal the morning of your wedding. It’s just not going to happen. Not even half of this was the best I could do:Aside from stomach knots I must admit, getting ready that morning was quite fun. It’s not often you have multiple people tending to your every needs. My mom is an aesthetician with her studio on the driveway of their home where our wedding was held. It was so great to have our hair and makeup done in the studio, then walk over to the house to get dressed all while the hustle and bustle of the ceremony and reception details were busily finishing up in the backyard.
In case you’re wondering, in the amount of time it took for me to get my hair and makeup done all four of my bridesmaids were finished. If your’e going all out expect to sit a long time.I went through a big ordeal with my wedding dress, explained here in comic strip format. There are no words to describe getting into that perfect dress which there was so much drama over, including losing 10 pounds to fit into it, which I did!….and have now gained back…
Unless you’re the type of girl who doesn’t care for these things, the dress is a very very big deal. Don’t let anyone ever try to convince you otherwise. On your wedding day you get really close with your photographer, especially when you’re getting ready. They’re right up in your face taking tons of pictures, perhaps when you’re getting dressed and only have knickers on. You have to be comfortable with them and you need to trust them.
I adore our photographers Ameris. The husband wife duo are the kind of people you want to go grab ice cream and go thrift shopping with. I felt completely comfortable with both of them, and 100% trusted their vision, which is why when Julia said “It’s weird but can you go behind the curtains? I want to try something.” I had full faith the result would be incredible.
Comeback next week for thoughts and pics of our first look and photo session.
And p.s., check out what my #1 must have is In My Kitchen over at Lulu the Baker
