Aside from stationery, centrepieces have been another difficult part of the design planning process. There are just so many different styles and feels I love that it makes it difficult to just stick to one cohesive ‘look’ when there’s so much amazingness out there.
Instead of doing a single centrepiece such as a vase with flowers, we’re doing it the way we want by taking things from all over that express who we are, what we like and what we’re about. We don’t know exactly what the centrepiece will be, but we know each one will be different from the next. Here’s a rough sketch:
The one thing we decided on pretty early is that we want books as part of our centrepieces. The lovely, old, worn, maybe even gold letters on the spine kind of books. It’s perfect. It’s who we are. Why not use these as our centrepiece?
Candles in mason jars isn’t really anything new and exciting, but we won’t just be using mason jars. We’ll be digging through our recycling bins (and our friends’!) each week for neat looking food jars, cleaning them up real nice and throwing in some candles.
A couple stems or a bit of baby’s breath in several small vases and jars. Each table will have different vases, different flowers, and a slightly different feel.
I love deer, he loves bears. Why not show that affection on each table with a little figurine each gingerly placed on top of a book or peeking behind a flower vase?
However scattered the vision of our wedding decor may be right now one thing is certain – we will incorporate as many family significance and handmade items as possible. I was thrilled when I remembered my parents have several lace table decor of varying shapes and sizes made by my mom, grandmothers and several family members. It will mean so much to have these family heirlooms be part of the decor and our day.

Wow, it looks like we have similar tastes! My centerpieces are flowers, books, and scrabble pieces 🙂
