Personally, I hate waiting for nail polish to dry, so I often just put on a sheer coat and leave them be. But at times I like to jazz up my little fingertips with some bright coloured nail polish (remember my neon nails?). When I had gel nails I would change my tips every couple weeks, going from classic french to bright gold leaf or purple and red sparkles. But who says you need a professional to make your nails so sparkly amazing?
Have you heard of thebeautydepartment.com? This blog has the most incredible mani DIY’s on the web, making seemingly complex nail designs so easy to execute. Here are my favourites.
#1 Loving these ombre stained nails
#2 Using gold leaf to add some serious shine
#3 Accent your ring finger nail with a herringbone pattern
#4 They even have a tutorial on how to make your own dotting tool to get that perfect polka dot mani
Check them out on Mondays for their Mani Monday series.
Awesome eh?
How about you, do you prefer the completely natural (maybe clear polish), a classic french manicure or all out crazy bright fun colours?

the herringbone pattern is my absolute favorite. it’s not very complicated, but it looks like lots of effort has been put into it!

Whoa, number two is definitely awesome. How do people have the patience to do this??

#1 is so pretty! I always have my toenails painted, but fingernails only sometimes. I love bright colors but tend to keep my fingernails more neutral/conservative for work.

Those ombre nails are so pretty and fun.
I can’t ever keep polish on my fingernails because I have the bad habit of chipping it off. I always have my toes painted though, usually in punchy, bright colors.

@Stephanie: It really does. I think I’d be so sad do put all that work into it and only have my nails chip the next day.
@Rooth: That one’s my fav too. I never get around to buying gold leaf though
@Stephanie: I used to keep my nails conservative for teaching when I was in a more conservative school. This year though it’s been much more relaxed, and therefore more fun 😉
@Erica: I’m the same, always dark or bright toes!
