Being first generation Canadian, food at my house was a bit different from my very-Canadian-family friends. I ate/eat dishes like bacalhau (salted cod casserole), arroz doce (sweet rice), and occasionally boiled castanhas (chestnuts). Despite a popular Christmas song, I’ve never known anyone to roast them over an open fire, let alone eat them. Well imagine my delightful surprise when I saw Starbuck’s newest drink – a chestnut praline latte. Yep, I had to try it, and you guys…it was good. Damn good. It got me thinking – if Starbucks is jumping on the chestnut train, it’s only a matter of time until it becomes something akin to PSL madness right? Okay maybe not as crazy as pumpkin spiced lattes, but I was very happy to find these 10 chestnut based recipes. And there’s SO many more. I can’t wait to get creative in the kitchen with chestnuts.
