You may recall last week that I spoke about the Fiesta Movement. Each month agents make videos surrounding a theme. I enjoyed this Fiesta agents video because, much like our adventure, it’s all about family.
Bloggers get to share their experiences in the movement with a post on the theme. This month it’s adventure, and today I reveal the adventure I went on – the biggest adventure of my life. But before I reveal what it is, let’s discuss what constitutes an adventure shall we?
Adventure is:
- Terrifying
- Exhilarating
- Risky
- Something you’ve never done before
- Totally worth it
Check, check, check, check and check.
I’ve never felt each of these things as much as when I went on this adventure. Every time I signed a paper or initialled on a line, the fear and exhilaration grew as I became more aware of the risk we were taking. But through all that fear, we know this first time venture will be completely worth it and an amazing experience. You guys….…we bought a house!
Buying a house for the first time is downright terrifying, but at some point you have to just jump in and trust it will be all right. Just like in any adventure, we thought about it, made the decision, held our breath and jumped into the sea of bureaucratic paperwork.
And while I’m still terrified we’ll be house poor for the unforeseeable future, or that some nasty problem the home inspection missed will rear its ugly head, I am overall ecstatic. As of this coming Saturday we will have the key to our very first house! This house is our Everest. We’ve made it to base camp, but we have a long ways to go as we climb through mini renovations and cosmetic upgrades, no doubt slipping along the way as problems arise. But at the end of the day, we’ll be able to fly up to the top with the satisfying feeling that this house is our own, and it’s our home.
I’m declaring this week House Week, so stay tuned all week for a tour of the home we’re leaving, the home we bought, and house inspiration.

You know what’s funny? The mister is all “we can make this! we can make that!” And for the first time EVER my reaction is “Oh god let’s just buy it!” lol I think I’m just so overwhelmed with all the work we’ll have to do with painting and upgrading.
But don’t you worry, DIY’s will be had!

How exciting! I remember that feeling, it’s so crazy and so fun. You will love knowing that it’s your home. ๐ My advice? Live in it for awhile before making too many changes. Seriously, this would have helped us make better choices because it helps to see your home in various seasons, and to get a feel for what it’s really like to live in it.
So happy for you!
Tan says
Definitely good advice! We aren’t making any major structural changes until at least a year. We definitely want to feel the space out at first to make sure the changes we make are the right ones

Congratulations! It must be a fantastic (and terrifying) feeling to become a new home owner. We’re on our way to being in the same boat and it’s been a bit of both, but the secure feeling of having your place totally outweighs all that other stuff ๐
Tan says
lol yes fantastic and super terrifying!
