Hey everyone!
Yes it’s Saturday and I’m shaking things up a bit with a post. It’s the holidays. Why not!?
I hope you all had a wonderful, relaxing, most likely belly-full-of-food-aching Christmas! Mine was all three of those things.
It’s now onto the next step – New Years, and to prepare, today I’m sharing a super simple DIY to add some festive sparkle and stars to your New Years evening wardrobe with this adorable little headband.
If you don’t have glitter paper, you can take plain cardstock, cover it in white glue, then dust it with sparkles. Allow it time to dry before cutting.
1 Measure your head by wrapping the lingerie elastic around your head at the place you want your headband to sit. Cut the excess elastic at the place where the two ends meet.
2 Use a simple backstitch to secure the two ends. I did several rows of this to ensure the ends wouldn’t unravel. If you aren’t much of a seamstress, you can hot glue the ends, but I should warn you it may not last as long.
3 On the back of your paper draw stars of varying shapes. It’s okay if they aren’t perfect. If they’re a bit uneven it makes your star whimsical (or so I tell myself). Cut out your stars.
4 Put your headband on your head. Using white nailpolish, chalk or anything that will show up on black elastic, make small dots where you want your stars to be placed.
It’s best to do this with the headband on your head as the elastic is stretched into place. If you just placed the stars on and liked how it looked just while holding the headband, it will look different when you put it on your head as the elastic will stretch.
5 Last step, hot glue your stars onto the dots.
And there you have it! Even if you’re wearing all black new years eve, this little headband will bring a bit of sparkle and a lot of festive personality into your outfit. And what’s great about it is that it’s cheap, easy and only took me about 15 minutes!

So pretty! Love how the rest of the headband is subtle to make the stars stand out. We’ll be having a low key New Year’s at home too. 🙂
