Every year the Fairmont Empress Hotel puts on an elaborate show of Christmas trees from businesses and organizations around the city. It’s a great cause with these organizations donating to BC Children’s hospital in order to decorate a tree. We go every year to ooh, ahh and take several pictures.
Last year my absolute favourite was the organic tree from a local green grocer. This year, hands down, the Nightmare Before Christmas tree by the Fairmont hotel.
Here’s a look at some of the most unique and prettiest trees from this year’s Festival of Trees:
It might seem morbid and un-festive, but this really was a cool tree (and in fact won first place!). By StarFish Medical, this tree was decorated with syringes, bandages, bags of ‘blood’ and clear tubes that ran around the tree pumping ‘blood’ all around. As unchristmassy as this tree might feel, you can’t deny that a lot of thought went into it, and it’s a good reminder to give to those in need of more than just presents.
True, not strictly a christmas tree, but how can you not love a real gingerbread castle?
Simple, clean and beautiful. A tree filled with white lights and origami folded paper cranes.
A tree after my own heart decorated with the characters from one of my favourite films. From the present gobbling snake to the long list of good and naughty children, what’s not to love?
While I don’t have a theme from a favourite movie, I normally decorate my tree in pink, silver, white and red (though Ryan might make me change it this year…)
How do you decorate your christmas tree?
