While I’m away on my honeymoon my good and ever so crafty friend Holly has a DIY for you.
…
Hi! I’m so excited to be doing a guest post for Tanya while she’s off on her wedded bliss trip. I’m Holly and welcome to my fun DIY!
My sister and I love doing projects together and are always on the lookout for new ideas. While browsing the internets one day, I came across this awesome project some legit artists did – passing art journals back and forth from Ireland to New York. I immediately thought: Crystal and I can do that! And she agreed.
We started with two old books and each took one. We do one or two pages and exchange them when we see each other. Then we do pages in the other book and pass them back and forth continually. This is an easy project you and a friend (or two) can do!
BOOK PASS ART JOURNALS
Needed:
-book (old books, sketchbooks, notebooks etc)
-magazines/books to cut out of
-markers/watercolors/pens
-stickers/washi tape/ephemera
-glue/scissors/etc
Start with one book. You could pick a theme for each book (like nature or circus or words, etc) or leave it open. Decide how long you have to complete your pages before you need to pass them on.
Then choose your supplies and go to town:
Cut out images or letters and glue them down.
Cover the page with washi tape.
Add fabric shapes.
Paint with watercolor.
Draw with pens (TIP: make sure your pens don’t bleed through to the opposite page – markers work better than Sharpies).
Color with markers.
Cut out holes in the pages to make windows.
Finish up and exchange.
There is lots of great inspiration online if you need ideas. Check out Pinterest or Google under ‘art journals’. And have fun!!
