While recovering from my wedding, my dear old friend (since grade 8!) Lisa is here to share some kitchen ideas with you. And friends, help me in wishing her and her husband a happy 2nd wedding anniversary!
…
The answer, quite simply, is no. Who am I to say? Well…
I am an interior designer working in Vancouver, BC, and I specialize in kitchen design. I have seen hundreds – like, 500 “hundreds” – of kitchens. I’ve known Tan for about 15 years, and I was so excited when she asked if I would create a guest-post for her awesome-sauce blog. Her expectation was naturally that my post would cover a topic to do with interiors. My own blog is not yet up-and-running, and my first instinct was to give Tan the topic that’s been on my lips – would likely have been my very first blog post – for ages: “I love white-on-white-on-white, but can I do too much white in my kitchen?”
Reason number one that a “white” kitchen can’t be too white, is that it will not be 100% white no matter how hard you try. Whether it’s tone-on-tone in a generally white back-splash or flooring material.

Or the introduction of just one non-white element like your flooring or counter-top.

It could be the use of non-white (usually stainless) appliances that break up your pristine canvass.

Even light and glass, introduced without the intention of colour, break up the “whiteness”.

The second reason my answer to this query is no is because there is really no such thing as a fully white kitchen. If this kitchen is part of your living space, it will not stay white. You will have food in this kitchen. You will probably have plants. You will need dish clothes and towels. I do not claim this to be some earth-shattering nugget of wisdom, but let me impart some redundantly-phrased knowledge to you: When you live in your living space you can’t help but breath life into it.
