Those pesky pennies have been a bit of debate in my home. The mister thinks they’re useless and we should get rid of them (and in fact Canada is, *sigh*) whereas I think they’re a staple of my coin purse.
The Standard Grill in NYC has got the right idea. If it’s too much of a pain to have a bunch of pennies in your wallet, just tile them into your floor.
Isn’t that gorgeous? Copper itself is such a gorgeous colour, but how much neater would it be to have a penny tiled floor opposed to copper coloured tiles? Sure, your head may swim a little at the thought of tiling thousands of pennies, but it would still be cheaper I imagine than hundreds of expensive tiles!
Here are some other brave souls who underwent the time consuming yet beautiful tiling process:
Considering they’re getting rid of the penny, I have an urge to save every single one for the option of this project in the future! I believe it’s technically illegal in Canada, but I figure if it’s out of circulation someone has to preserve the penny’s image!
Would you tile any part of your home with pennies?

WOW!! I’ve always loved pennies, too – especially finding them in random places. Now I know why – they’re a beautiful thing! Thanks Tanya.

Uhh whoa. I like the foyer but I don’t think I could do walls. Very very cool

Wow! What an interesting idea! Looks neat but seems like it would be hard to clean in between the pennies. 😛

There’s a clear and thick coat of epoxy which is like a clear coat that makes it smooth. So no cleaning in between pennies, just one clean surface!
