With July being national ice cream month there’s a lot of ice cream bowls, cones and pops being consumed. It’s all delicious, but sometimes it’s fun to try something a little different with the well loved treat. Spice up your ice cream routine and serve it in the shape of a heart!
Silicone cupcake liners are all you need to create this shaped ice cream, and it doesn’t just have to be hearts. There are circles (classic cupcake liner), stars, flowers, and squares.
Silcone cupcake molds
1 Fill each cupcake mold with 1-2 scoops of ice cream. Leave it out for about 5 minutes so the ice cream gets very soft.
2 Carefully push the ice cream down with a spoon and press against the edges of the form. Make sure you aren’t pressing so hard that you’re distorting the silicone shape. If you do just press the mold back into shape as if you’re working with clay. Make sure you leave about a 2cm gap between the top of the silcone form and the ice cream.
3 Place ice cream molds back in freezer for 30 minutes or longer to re-harden.
4 To remove ice cream, hold the mold upside down over a plate. Carefully peel the edges out all the way with your fingers and gently push against the bottom of the mold using your thumbs to push out the ice cream. You’ll end up with your mold turned inside out and your ice cream on your plate.
5 Place ice cream on a plate and serve with your favourite toppings.
Perhaps you can serve these at your ice cream party. Enjoy!
What are you favourite vanilla ice cream toppings?
(pssst to all my american friends, happy 4th of july!)
