Bridal Party Gifts

Have you been a bridesmaid or a maid of honour? If so, you know how much money and time is spent helping your friend have the most amazing wedding ever. As a bride (and previous bridesmaid), trust me, it is incredibly appreciated.
One of the ways a bride shows her appreciation for all her girls do for her leading up to the big day is through a gift.
Here’s a few ways you can say thank you.

To my bridal party who may be reading this, your gift is not listed so it stays a surprise. (Though if you really like something here don’t be afraid to not so subtly hint ;)

1. Treat your girls to a pedicure and/or manicure just before the wedding, especially if they’re wearing open summer sandals. “Camera” by Essie.
2. If she’s a gardening nut (or has always wanted to try) what about a gardening kit? Indoor Gardens Tool Kit
3. A makeup bag filled with makeup treats! Coach makeup bag with Too Faced cosmetics.
4. If she’s a stationery fiend a personalized stationery set will go a long ways. This set designed by NaomiLynn on Etsy.
5. Tickets to an upcoming opera, play or rock concert. Faust ticket image here.

Uschi and Kay Feature

It’s Tuesday! I’m posting! YAY!
I had to post today because today is a very exciting day.
Remember these pictures

from this post?

Yup, these are our amazing engagement photos from the talented and oh so sweet husband and wife duo Ameris.

Today, our engagement photos is featured on Uschi and Kay!
How lovely is that?

If you haven’t already seen this website it is a must, especially if you are a crafty bride to be or just a DIY wedding lover in general.
This Canadian wedding website is full of weddings, DIY projects, advice, vendor information and more. As Uschi and Kay put it, it’s “inspiration for the modern, crafty bride”. One of the neatest things about it is the “Real Weddings” section organized by price, so you can visualize what one can do for a wedding with a given budget. Very handy for us penny pinching brides.

I’m just so thrilled to have our engagement session featured here. It was such a lovely day and the photos are such a special reminder to us of our love for each other. Like we need reminding but photographic evidence is nice ;)
Thank you Uschi and Kay for sharing our memories!
I just can’t wait for our wedding pictures.

But back to the present. Go check our engagement photo shoot feature!

Recipe: Mango Salsa BBQ Chicken

This is my fruit seasonal favourite time of year, when you get buy mangoes CHEAP by the case. You’ll often find me hovering over the kitchen sink sloppily munching down on this delicious juicy tropical fruit. Or, experimenting.

The other day at dinner time Ryan and I realized our mangoes needed to be eaten fast. Solution? Throw it on some chicken. The result turned out so good we had it two nights in a row.

Mango Salsa BBQ Chicken

The best part about this dish aside from being delicious?
It’s incredibly easy and fast.

Ingredients

Method

Time: 25 minutes
Serves: 2
Step #1: BBQ 2 chicken breast to your taste.
Step #2: While the chicken is BBQing, slice up 1/2 a red onion, 1 avocado, 2 mangoes, 2 medium sized tomatoes, and a small bunch of cilantro.
Step #3: Mix all ingredients together in a bowl.
Step #4: In a smaller bowl, squeeze out the juice of 1/2 a lime. Add cumin and sea salt to taste (a pinch or so each) and mix with a fork. If you want a slightly asian twist, add a tablespoon of sesame oil.
Step #5: Add lime mixture to the larger bowl and mix until everything is coated.
Step #6: When your chicken is ready, place it on a plate and heap the mango salsa on top. The more the better.
Step #7: Devour. Perhaps with a gin and soda or mojito in hand.

Seriously. Go get yourself a case of mangoes now. And if this recipe isn’t to your taste just get messy and eat them over the kitchen sink.
